The future of coordination?

What is YOUR vision for international coordination?

The international team has been reflecting on the different means, strengths and challenges of the coordination of our movement for the past few years.

During our council the delegates will make some important decisions to develop a new type of coordination.

We want a coordination that works to strengthen our actions being developed at all levels. We want a coordination that develops the links BETWEEN our actions, - that is dynamic, young, that is relevant to our actions, that promotes confrontation and dialogue between the actions themselves.

To start the reflection process, we want to present you our reflections in order to motivate your contribution and participation in the preparation process towards the world council.

The situation of young workers has an international dimension. Their problems and aspirations are similar and interdependent. - DoP page 18

That's the reason why we want an international coordination. We believe coordination is needed to:
  • guarantee joint action with common objectives and means.
  • enable exchanges between young workers on their reality, leading to mutual support, solidarity and understanding among them.
  • allow the young workers to share and to draw strength from each other's experience and action.

Some key questions......

  • What is needed to achieve the strengthening of our action, visibility, and international dimension?
  • How can we create more participation in order to develop and strengthen our (international) action?
  • How can we create more participation and interaction in iycw and become more international?
  • What are the mean for us in terms of communication and how are we going to benefit from each other's perspectives? (We imagine a coordination in future where the coordinators are based in separate countries and where it will be difficult to meet regularly.)
  • How can we develop our capacity for regular communication internationally that overcomes the language and cultural differences?
  • How can we link our decisions for the size and type of coordination to the action and its needs?
