Most young workers want to have JOB SECURITY WHICH IS A PERMANENT JOB...flexibility of work is a trend that workers cannot be a permanent job at all, flexibilization is one problem why many workers especially in the third world countries cant able to access benefits such as medical benefits, social security benefits, good salary or minimum salary that can sustain their daily life...IYCW campaign in Just work for All, Social Protection, and Security at Work, I think we have to fight our Demands to have Job security and this is a Permanent Job whether it is a temporary a casual work but WE want Job a Descent Job

(Translated from French original)

"I'll share here a reality on Verviers.
Many young people I know through the YCW or otherwise do not want constraints, they want to be free, able to decide to go on vacation when they want to return later when they want to sleep all day if they want ...

"For some fixed full-time work is a horror, because it inhibits life as they wish.

Maybe it comes from the fact that emerging from studies, we want to, as young people, have fun for a while before ending up again with the constraints of times and hours?"
- Richard, JOC Wallonne

What do you think?
Do you know people in the same case?
For the same reasons?

I want also to share one experience of our member here in the Philippines:

Rhina is 19 years old and works as a contractual worker in a food-chain in Cebu City. From 7 am to 9 pm she works as a waitress, dishwasher, floor and CR cleaner, garbage collector and errand girl. For all these she receives 250 pesos ($US 5) and without any benefit at all. She works to save in order to pursue her college education, to help her unemployed parents and support 5 siblings in the family. With 14 hrs of work and a meager income, practically she has no time for herself nor buy new things that she wants. By September her contract ends and she’s unsure if she will be rehired; otherwise, she has to look for another job which takes her another 6 months the least or a year. The situation is worse for the thousands of contractual women workers especially in our “mega cities”.

Asking wether she likes permanent job, absolutely she said YES! Because(1) after contract termination, that means unemployment for her. It would take time (3 to 6 months) to find another kind of work (2) applying for another job means another extra expenses for the requirements (3) she cannot avail sick leave, holiday leave and other benefits unlike regular workers do.
